Bakla Beel

Bakla Beel

Location Block/Gram Panchayat/ Municipality – Alipurduar-II Block

Work was started with Jaladharini Dooars Project with an objective to renovate moribund river & canals. Under this project, the excavation of Bakla Canal (approx. 2.5 KM) for renovation was taken up in 3 phases to improve the navigability of water of the said canal. But another issue of Water conservation raised from local population as the canal used to be dry except monsoon & a check dam will help to conserve water in Bakla canal up to a level which will in turn help them in agriculture activities along with fishery development in that area. So, another project of Check Dam was taken up across Bakla Canal. Bio-Diversity Park is main attraction of this spot.
